This year, there is a tournament dinner to welcome all the rangatahi to Tāmaki Makaurau! This is an awesome opportunity for the students to come together to celebrate winter tournament week, meet other sporting students from all over Aotearoa, listen to a panel of sporting legends and share some kai. This dinner is kindly sponsored by NZMA and crafted by The Culinary Collective students and tutors.

NZSS Wrestling Championships

Rutherford College, Auckland
The New Zealand Secondary School Wrestling Championships bring together young wrestlers from across Aotearoa to compete for national honours. The event provides an opportunity for athletes of all experience levels to test themselves against New Zealand's best secondary school wrestlers in a supportive and competitive environment.
Upper North Island Girls Chica Gilmer Trophy (NZSS Tier 3 Hockey)
31st August – 4th September
North Harbour Hockey Association, 158 Bush Road, Rosedale, Auckland
The Chica Gilmer Trophy is one of the premier secondary school girls' hockey tournaments in the upper North Island. Schools travel to Auckland to compete over several days in a highly competitive tournament that showcases emerging hockey talent from across the region.
Upper North Island Boys Mayhill Cup (NZSS Tier 3 Hockey)
31st August – 4th September
North Harbour Hockey Association, 158 Bush Road, Rosedale, Auckland
The Mayhill Cup is a leading secondary school boys' hockey tournament featuring top teams from throughout the upper North Island. The tournament provides high-quality competition and an opportunity for athletes to represent their schools on one of the region's biggest hockey stages.
NZSS Karate Championships
30th August
Auckland Netball Centre, Auckland
The New Zealand Secondary School Karate Championships showcase the country's top young karate athletes competing across a range of disciplines and age groups. The event celebrates skill, discipline and respect while providing a pathway for emerging athletes to compete at a national level.
NZSS Individual Cycling Championships – Northern Tour
4th – 6th September
Mount Wellington, Auckland
The NZSS Individual Cycling Championships – Northern Tour attracts secondary school cyclists from throughout New Zealand to compete across a range of road cycling disciplines. The event provides challenging competition and highlights Auckland's ability to host high-quality cycling events.
NZSS Weightlifting Championships
5th – 6th September
Kolmar Centre, Papatoetoe
The New Zealand Secondary School Weightlifting Championships bring together student-athletes from across the country to compete in Olympic weightlifting disciplines. The event showcases strength, technique and dedication while providing a pathway for future high-performance athletes.
NZSS Duathlon Cup (NZ Tri)
20th September
Māngere Bridge, Auckland
The NZSS Duathlon Cup features secondary school athletes competing in a run-bike-run format across a range of age groups. The event promotes participation, endurance and healthy lifestyles while attracting competitors from throughout New Zealand.
NZSS Skateboarding Championships
3rd – 4th September
SonSk8 Indoor Skate Park, Glen Innes, Auckland
The New Zealand Secondary School Skateboarding Championships provide a platform for young skateboarders to compete against their peers in a nationally recognised event. The competition celebrates creativity, skill and progression within one of New Zealand's fastest-growing sports.
NZSS Basketball – Northern Cup (Non-Qualifier)

Franklin Pool & Leisure Centre & Pukekohe High School
The Northern Cup brings together secondary school basketball teams from across New Zealand to compete in Auckland. The tournament provides valuable development opportunities and quality competition while promoting participation and school pride.

The Mary Clinton Cup brings together secondary school girls' hockey teams from across the upper North Island. The tournament provides meaningful competition opportunities while fostering sportsmanship, teamwork and participation in hockey.
Inaugural National U16 Boy's Tournament
5th – 7th October
Lloyd Elsmore Park, Lady Marie Drive, Pakuranga Heights, Auckland
The Inaugural National U16 Boy's Tournament will bring together emerging young hockey players from around New Zealand for a new national competition. The event aims to provide high-quality competition, player development opportunities and a pathway for future representative athletes.

The Olympic Stick Tournament provides an opportunity for secondary school boys' hockey teams to compete against schools from across the upper North Island. The event promotes participation, player development and school pride through quality competition in Auckland.
PYC Girls Festival (Pasifika Youth Cup Rugby League)

Ōtara Rugby League Football Club, Auckland
The Pasifika Youth Cup Girls Festival celebrates rugby league, culture and community by bringing together young female athletes from diverse backgrounds. The event provides a welcoming environment that promotes participation, connection and development through sport.
PYC U17 Boys & Girls Festival (Pasifika Youth Cup Rugby League)

Ōtara Rugby League Football Club, Auckland
The Pasifika Youth Cup U17 Boys & Girls Festival brings together teams from across New Zealand and the wider Pacific community to compete in rugby league while celebrating Pasifika culture and identity.
